Dead Doesn’t Mean Gone

We have one new UP polish in this collection! Dead Doesn’t Mean Gone features a desaturated, dusty purple base with red/green shifting OG UP. This shade is beautiful, subdued, and sophisticated.

Burn Away the Shadows

swatch bkl burn away the shadows 2

Burn Away the Shadows is a peachy-pink with lots of orange/gold shifting shimmer. The shimmer in this polish is very intense, so be careful with your brushstrokes and watch for streaking. The salmon vibes are a bit strong in this one on my skin tone.

Faded Away

swatch bkl faded away 2

Faded Away features a deep red base with bright green/blue shifting shimmer. The base color looks almost maroon-berry in the bottle, but on the nail the color is more of a brown-red (rather than the purple-red it kind of looks in the bottle). The formula is beautifully smooth, allowing for application in either two or three coats. I show both ways here, alternating starting with three coats on the pointer. Three coats deepens the base color and makes for a stronger contrast with the shimmer. I really love this color combination of base and shimmer.

It’s You, It’s Me, It’s Us

swatch bkl it's you it's me it's us 2

It’s You, It’s Me, It’s Us features a sheer light grey base overlaid with strong green/blue shifting shimmer. The base is sheer enough that the shimmer really tints the base color to more of a green, so the overall color is more green than grey. Very delicate and pretty shade.

Perfectly Splendid

Perfectly Splendid features a taupey-beige base with bright pink/orange shifting shimmer. It looks like there are some small blue sparks also floating around amidst the pink. This shimmer and formula is the super glowy kind, but it is also a bit sheer. At three coats I could still make out some VNL.

Story Time

swatch bkl story time 2

Story Time features pea-green/mustard-ish base with strong blue/indigo shifting shimmer. This is my favorite shimmer polish in this collection. It’s such a BKL shade. This base color and shimmer combination is so fresh and striking. The base is also on the sheerer side, but it really lets all that bright shimmer glow through. I could catch a hint of VNL after three coats but it honestly didn’t bother me too much, with the shimmer being so prominent.

The Lady in the Lake

The Lady in the Lake features a medium grey base with pink/orange shifting shimmer. It also looks to have those little blue flecks interspersed within. Classic combination with a perfect formula.

Gravity Well

swatch bkl gravity well 2

Gravity Well is a black/red shifting multichrome with scattered gold flakes. Such a pretty combination. The gold flakes add such an elegant touch. The formula builds really well, with two coats reaching opacity even though the black base looked a little sheer on the first coat. A third coat would deepen and intensify the colors, but two should cover if your nails aren’t too long.

The Right Key

Lastly, we have a topper! The Right Key features green/blue shifting ghost flakes in a clear base. I just love BKL’s ghost flake polishes and actually have been hoping for a topper with them, so I was absolutely delighted to see this polish! I topped it over a purple creme (middle) a deep red creme (ring), and over Gravity Well (the above black/red polish with gold flakes). The green/blue shift is so magical, and ghost flakes themselves are so elegant. This topper would look beautiful over lighter colors as well, but it doesn’t photograph as well as darker bases so I opted for darker shades for these photos. This polish would also look beautiful sandwiched with sheerer jellies for a pond effect mani!
