A collection inspired by tinsel and other metallic, shiny decor seen around the holidays
We usually see a megaset of duochrome shimmers from FF each year in the form of the Enchanted Fables release. But for this year’s last monthly collection, we’re getting a second set of duochromes!
Bauble
Bauble features a sheer grey base with strong magenta/pink/gold/green shimmer. It almost feels more like a multichrome polish. I love the kind of ashen notes of the base with this strong shift.
3 coats + top coat
Frosted
Frosted features a light blue base with green/blue/purple shifting shimmer. I think this shade is going to be quite popular. It’s intensely bright and luminous. The base does streak, so I recommend carefully building up to opacity in thin coats.
3 coats + top coat
Glisten
Glisten features a cornflower blue base with pink/green shifting shimmer. This shade feels more mature and classic, with the shimmer having a little bit of a pearlescent feel.
3 coats + top coat
Lambent
Lambent features a coral-salmon kind of base color with an intense pink shimmer that shifts orange, almost matching the base color. The shimmer is really strong and almost entirely eclipses the base color, although on me it’s almost neutral so the final effect might be different on different skin tones.
3 coats + top coat
Lucent
Lucent features a cold lavender base with silvery gold shimmer that shifts green/blue at an angle to the light. This combination is so utterly pure and delicate, almost fairy-like.
3 coats + top coat
Nacreous
Nacreous features a delicate, pink-toned orchid purple base with an intense teal/purple/pink shimmer. Now this, this is a truly fairy-worthy polish. If I spent a life dancing among the flowers, this is the shade my nails would be painted.
The formula produces a very glowy finish. I recommend keeping more polish on the brush than usual (for an FF). The coats aren’t necessarily thicker since FF’s duochrome formulas don’t have much body, but overall it will help reduce patching. FF’s official recommendation for this polish is four coats, but keeping more polish on the brush should help get this one opaque in three coats.
3 coats + top coat
Ornate
Ornate features a light caramel base with green/pink shifting shimmer. The shimmer is more of a microflake type that throws more sparkle. Something about this color palette feels a bit vintage and throwback.
3 coats + top coat
Sequin
Sequin features a teal blue base with silvery purple shimmer that shifts green. The green shift is absolutely luminous. The shimmer is the microflake type that is sparkly. The overall feel is quite aquatic and elegant.
3 coats + top coat
Sophie was originally inspired by vintage Christmas ornaments for this collection. But this is actually only the first of more installments to come in an eventual Tinsel series! It’s not holiday-specific, but apparently we can expect some more Tinsel releases in the upcoming year. Personally, I’m very intrigued to see if they will continue being pure duochrome shimmers or how else Sophie will interpret the Tinsel theme.
The Tinsel Collection releases for preorder on December 1 at 9am AEST.
