Release: 12 September 2020
6 polishes
As part of her birthday release, Amanda of Cuticula is releasing a new collection of shades inspired by macarons with a galactic-esque finish, in the hopes of livening up this…situation we are all still in. I’d say it’s a success โค
I swatched this collection with Cuticula’s Limitless top coat, which was also sent to me free of charge.
All of a Saturn
All of a Saturn features a minty jade base with silver microflakes and gold flakes.
The silver microflakes are officially described as being holographic, but personally I saw no holographic flash at all and wouldn’t have thought they were holo just based off of what I saw while swatching. This applies for all of the polishes in this collection (which all have the same finish), so I’m just stating this up-front once, but know it’s this way for this whole collection.
Similarly across the board is the formula, which is relatively sheer. Two coats just barely covers for all of them. I left it there for some colors, but for others I opted for a third. Not really any rhyme or reason, but if you prefer a more solid finish or a more intense color, you’ll probably want three coats. All the flakes really do stand out, which is the benefit of a sheerer formula for this kind of polish.
This color is very cute and very spring.

Star-casm
Star-casm features a bright pink base with silver microflakes and gold flakes. This shade is kind of Barbie-esque, but a little more subdued and definitely not neon or anything. Very girly.

Stroke of Venus
Stroke of Venus is a light pink with silver microflakes and gold flakes. This base color reminds me of bubblegum. It’s maybe even girlier than Star-casm (above). Fortunately, the formula does not suffer like a typical light pink or pastel shade. It applies smoothly and evenly like the rest of this collection.

Retro-gray-ed
Retro-gray-ed is a washed-out blue base with silver microflakes and gold flakes. I think this base color is a blue that’s been grayed out, as opposed to a gray with a tinge of blue…although it can mess around and flip between the two on the nails. This is one of those shades where it’s better not to worry too much and just enjoy how comfortable it is to wear.

Now or Nova
Now or Nova features a warm purple base with silver microflakes and gold flakes. Warm, dusty purples are so deep in my comfort zone, and I’m always happy to wear a shade in this family.

Jupiter Recognize
Saved my favorite shade for last! Jupiter Recognize is a brown base with silver microflakes and gold flakes. Brown is criminally-overlooked in general, but especially so in collections with a candy concept. Thankfully not here though! This shade of brown is so lovely and kind, and the addition of metallic flakes makes it feel like the most luxurious mug of hot chocolate ever, studded with gold leaf and silver snowflakes. Please consider this one even if you tend to skip over browns, especially if you have warm-toned skin!

The Galaxy Macaron collection releases on September 12 at 8am Pacific.
Also releasing at the same time is Cuticula’s SPrinkle of the Month for September 2020, now freed from the original stamping polish concept and opened up to any finish! Find my photos of that polish here.
