Femme Fatale is back with a stunning collection! Her inspiration this time was this particular impressionist oil painting of the Grand Canyon by Benjamin C. Brown:

Benjamin C Brown Grand Canyon

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to visit the Grand Canyon myself, back in August 2017. I went to the less-popular North side, and I hope to also be able to visit the Southern side at some point as well. The fact that the Colorado River carved its way through the rocky faces by slowly eroding away for millions of years never ceases to blow my little mind.

Sophie always picks the most incredible inspiration, and she’s outdone herself with the shades she’s created from this palette.

Aeolian

Aeolian features a pale blue base with green/blue/purple shifting glass-fleck shimmer and holo microglitter. The formula can be a little patchy so I recommend being patient with letting each coat dry. I just love the look of glass-fleck shimmer. The colors of this one are so gorgeous.

Calcite

swatch ff calcite 2

Calcite features a cool-toned periwinkle base with green shimmer and lots of silver holo glitter in all different sizes. The glitters really give a magical feel to this polish. It feels like winter in a bottle. Because of the heavy glitter load I opted for two coats of top coat to finish.

Sand Verbena

Sand Verbena features a sheer purple base loaded with red/gold/green shifting shimmer. Absolutely beautiful combination. My VNL is not very strong but it still peeks through a bit after three coats, which I personally don’t mind. The formula is very smooth and lovely to work with.

Hermit Shale

swatch ff hermit shale 2

Hermit Shale is a strong linear holographic polish with orange glowy shimmer. The shimmer pigment is actually magnetic. I did try to magnetize my ring finger, but the effect is pretty subtle, so don’t go expecting a strong cat-eye effect. I love this polish as-is though. The orange glow is absolutely stunning. It really does capture the orange faces of the Grand Canyon, especially as lit during sunrise and sunset. And the linear holo combined with the slight metallic edge of the shimmer is just a dynamite combo.

Quartz Sand

Quartz Sand features a peachy pink base with turquoise shimmer and antique gold metallic glitters. In the bottle it really reminds me of FF’s Dreaming Awake, one of my all-time favorite FF polishes. In comparison the base of Quartz Sand is distinctly pinker and more saturated. The shimmer is stronger than my photos show but it’s not a blinding shimmer. I recommend using thinner coats and pressing down with the brush to make sure the glitters lay as flat as possible.

Toroweap

Toroweap features a yellow-toned olive green base with intense purple shimmer and gold holographic glitters. This one… oh it’s so beautiful it hurts. It doesn’t hurt that it reminds me of Taran, one of my favorites from the Enchanted Fables Heroes collection. The base and shimmer colors look really similar, although maybe Toroweap’s base has just a tinge more yellow? But those gold holo glitters…wow, what an addition. No one but Femme Fatale would ever make a polish like this. This kind of polish is what I love most about FF.

Opuntia

And lastly, Opuntia features a sheer reddish-berry base packed with green/purple shifting glass fleck shimmer and gold holographic glitters. Oh my heart…this polish…I just don’t have words!

Just kidding, I have loads of words.

This polish takes the colors of Lotus Mist and puts them into this classic FF finish we know and love. It most strongly reminds me of Sea Glimmer, another one of my all-time favorite FF polishes.

Even though this polish has a sheer base, I was perfectly happy with coverage at two coats. More coats would probably create a very bumpy texture with all those glitters. This kind of polish looks gorgeous with some VNL in my opinion…it serves to amplify the ethereal vibes.

And have some photos in diffused lighting, because it’s a stunner in all lighting:

This collection really sums up why I love Femme Fatale above all other brands–unique inspiration, beautiful interpretation, and wild combinations that just work. Also worth noting is that I adore how many of these shades work beautifully on my warm skin tone. I don’t expect to see many more gems in the vein of Toroweap or Opuntia any time soon, or from anyone else.

The Arizona Dusk collection will be available for preorder starting August 1st at 9am AEST.
