Bee's Knees Lacquer, PR, Regular release

Release: 31 July 2020

8 polishes

Here’s part 2 of BKL’s A Court of Thorns and Roses-inspired collection. Find part 1 here.

This collection is split between two distinct finishes: four sheer fine shimmers and four sheer microflake shimmers. I’ll show them in this order.

Illyrian Baby

swatch bkl illyrian baby 2

Illyrian Baby is a pastel multichrome that shifts pink/red/gold, with a hint of green at the far end. The pink is brighter than I could show in these photos. Super cute and feminine shade.

When I Kill, I do it Slow

swatch bkl when i kill 2

When I Kill, I do it Slow is an orange pastel multichrome with shimmer that shifts red/gold/green. Red shimmer doesn’t like to photograph properly against orange bases, so know that in real life the red shimmer stands out well against the orange base.

Prick

swatch bkl prick 2

Prick is a pastel multichrome that shifts greenish-aqua/blue/purple. The resting state is a very mermaid-esque green-toned aqua. This one is very sheer. I’m showing four coats, which I don’t like to do for swatch photos. Three coats had distinct VNL (although four coats still has some VNL), so if you don’t want to do four coats and dislike the look of VNL you’ll probably want to use this one as a topper.

Night Triumphant

swatch bkl night triumphant 2

Night Triumphant is a pastel multichrome that shifts between indigo blue and violet. I think this one edges out Prick for the sheerest of the entire collection. Again I’m showing this one in four coats because three frankly was just too sheer, although this look still has VNL. Again, you’ll probably want to use this one as a topper if VNL isn’t your thing. Although this one is the least shifty in the collection the overall look is very delicate and lovely.

And now for the four microflake shimmers. The particles in these four polishes are larger. In my opinion, this gives them a more sparkly, dynamic look. These four are also more opaque overall.

A Dreamer Born Into the Court of Nightmares

swatch bkl a dreamer born 2

A Dreamer Born Into the Court of Nightmares is a yellow pastel multichrome that shifts gold/green and maybe a bit of blue at the far edge. This one is so gorgeous…it’s like liquid sunshine in a bottle. The golden glow is so intense and luminous! I’m also happy to report this one is the most opaque of the collection–if you apply heavy-handed you might be able to get away with two coats.

Only You Can Decide What Breaks You

swatch bkl only you can decide 2

Only You Can Decide What Breaks You is a pink pastel multichrome that shifts pink/gold/green. This one and the above yellow are my top picks of this collection. I just love the pink/gold/green multichrome shift, and this kind of microflake shimmer is among my favorite nail polish components. It’s just so sparkly and fun!

Feyre, Darling

swatch bkl feyre, darling 2

Feyre, Darling is a pastel multichrome that shifts bright blue to indigo. This particular shade of blue is always eye-catching.

Welcome to the Family

swatch bkl welcome to the family 2

And lastly, Welcome to the Family is a pastel multichrome that shifts green/teal/blue. This one also has good opacity in the collection, with no VNL visible after three coats.
