Release: 26 June 2020

8 polishes

BKL drew her inspiration for this collection again from the book series A Court of Thorns and Roses. Find part 2 here.

This collection contains three distinct finishes: creme-based shimmers, sheer fine shimmers, and sheer microflake shimmers. I will show them in this order, starting with the two creme-based shimmers.

A Death-Promise

A Death-Promise features a pale grey base with red/green shifting shimmer. The base is quite sheer, allowing the shimmer to shine. The base color is not as simple as a plain grey. It pulls a tiny bit green or beige on me in certain lights.

Make Sure it’s Felt Across Worlds

swatch bkl make sure it's felt across worlds 2

Make Sure it’s Felt Across Worlds features a peachy base with green/pink shifting shimmer. The official description says it’s a nude, but it didn’t really look nude at all on me. It definitely looks more orange-ish. Regardless, the overall appearance is very pretty.

Next up are the three sheer fine shimmers. These are comparable to the multichromes of the Crescent City collections.

Don’t Let the Hard Days Win

swatch bkl don't let the hard days win 2

Don’t Let the Hard Days Win is the sheerest of this subset. It features a sheer sea green base with blue/purple shifting shimmer. The shimmer definitely takes over the base color. Even at three coats there’s significant VNL.

One Life May Change the World

swatch bkl one life may change the world 2

One Life May Change the World features an orange base with red/green shifting shimmer. In real life the red shimmer and the orange base has more of a contrasting appearance. This is such a pretty shade of orange.

Truth is Your Curse

swatch bkl truth is your curse 2

Truth is Your Curse features a warm red, almost coral, base with pink/gold/green shifting shimmer. I’m not really a fan of bright red shades, but I love the green shimmer shift against the base color. This polish is almost like a little sister to the popular hot pink with blue shimmer combination.

Lastly we have the microflake shimmers. The shimmer pieces are larger and have a distinct sparkle.

The Heart of a Dreamer

The Heart of a Dreamer features a brown base with orange/gold/green shifting shimmer. I really love BKL’s brown multichromes. This one does lean a little more bronze-y orange than a true brown.

I was a Survivor, and I was Strong

swatch bkl i was a survivor and i was strong 2

I was a Survivor, and I was Strong features a lime green base packed with gold/green/blue shifting shimmer. I’ve been really enjoying warm green polishes recently, and the sparkle from the larger particle shimmer is really beautiful.

Stay with the High Lord

swatch bkl stay with the high lord 2

Last up is Stay with the High Lord, probably the most striking polish of this collection. This polish features a sheer blue base packed with green/blue/purple shimmer. Now, this polish is extremely sheer. I don’t like to use more than three coats of polish for any swatch, but I opted to do that here. The sparkly microflakes really are so outstanding, but it does take lots of coats to get there.
